Rich and smooth, Samidori has a subtle sweetness with undertones of banana and rosemary. Its forest green colour is accompanied by a delicate aroma of avocado. Made by grinding Tencha from the first harvest of the year, it is one of the highest grade Matchas best enjoyed on its own.

Matcha ( 抹茶), meaning ‘ground tea’ is a a fine green tea powder made from Tencha and is distinctive in its rich
flavour and dark green colour. To achieve the tea’s high grade quality the young shoots of the new season are shaded for 3- 4weeks. After harvesting and drying only the very tips of the Tencha leaves are ground into Matcha. To transform them into a powder form either a stone mill or a ball mill is used.
Unlike other green tea types, Matcha desolves in hot water. In order to prepare the tea for drinking a bamboo wisk is usually used to froth up the powder together with warm water. By doing this the tea gets a smooth and creamy texture.
The fine green powder plays a very important role in the Japanese tea ceremony called Sado. In the Buddhist ritual the focus is set on making and drinking Matcha to clear the mind
